Self Priming Jet Pumps

Horizontal centrifugal self priming water pumps in stainless steel are available with motor casing in stainless steel as well as in aluminium.

Self priming jet water pumps are used for pressurised water supply, pressure boosting, irrigation and rainwater harvesting. Areas of use also include commercial installations such as car-wash facilities where pressurised water supply is required.

Self Priming Garden Pumps

Versions designed as garden water pumps are equipped with a practical handle for mobile use and 1.5m power cable.

When commissioning a centrifugal pump it is required to vent the entire suction and pressurised pipe of the installation in order to enable the pump to operate.

What is the difference between a self-priming and standard centrifugal pump?

When the pump is located above the water level, it is required to draw water upwards via the suction side of the pump.

Initially, the suction side is filled with air which has to be removed.
Filling the pump chamber of the self-priming pump with water before start-up will enable the air from the suction side to be evacuated once pump operation commences.

This is a distinct advantage of a self-priming pump in comparison to a standard centrifugal pump, where the entire suction side has to be filled with water additionally in order to remove any air pockets.

Generally, at installations where the pump is drawing water from a well or tank, a non-return valve (foot-valve) including mesh-filter should be fitted at the end of the suction pipe.
When drawing harvested rainwater from a rainwater tank a floating suction filter with non-return valve shoud be installed at the end of the suction hose.
